Developing effective practices in strategy instruction
Awake tomorrow invigorated and full of energy, confident of your ability to impart strategy instruction to your students! Participants will be introduced to a framework for creating mindful reading programs and the development of effective practices in strategy instruction. Teaching strategies such as reciprocal teaching, identification of text structures and the use of graphic organizers will be practiced along with the comprehension strategies of predicting, clarifying, questioning, and summarizing. Finally, assessments in strategy mastery will be discussed.
