A framework for understanding word study and vocabulary development based on the book Bringing Words to Life by Beck, McKeown and Kucan

Experience more joy in your life knowing your students will become verbal virtuosos! Participants will be introduced to a framework for understanding word study and effective practices in vocabulary instruction and assessment. Specific strategies and activities for teaching vocabulary will be practiced including:  Choosing words to teach, developing student friendly explanations of words, word mapping, word sorts, and use of context clues. Finally, participants will discuss techniques for assessing vocabulary instruction.
